A new book by Fares Ywakim is drawing attention to the work of Lebanese actor and comedian Hassan Alaa Eddin, known as Chouchou. Nidaa Al Watan reviewed Chouchou in Memory on November 2, the 51st anniversary of his death, following an independent An-Nahar review published October 27.

Published by Dar Al Fourat in 2026, the book draws on Ywakim’s experience as a collaborator of Chouchou. Both reviews describe an account that revisits the performer’s career and corrects earlier accounts while acknowledging writers and directors who contributed to his work.

The coverage concerns an already published book; no launch on November 2 is established. The accompanying 2019 photograph of Beirut’s Grand Théâtre illustrates the city’s theatrical heritage. It does not depict Chouchou’s theatre or the book.
