Lebanon power utility starts disconnecting public bodies over unpaid bills
EDL says it has begun the process as L’Orient Today reports a water authority among those affected.
Lebanon’s state electricity provider began the process of disconnecting public bodies with unpaid bills on Monday, November 2, after a deadline to settle their debts, LBCI and L’Orient Today reported.
EDL said it was updating lists of institutions and municipalities that had neither paid nor contacted it to arrange payment. L’Orient Today reported that the South Lebanon Water Authority was among those whose power was cut. Public hospitals were exempt from the announced measure. Beirut airport had pledged an immediate payment and a schedule for the balance, according to the same outlet.
