Zahle church and foundation rally hundreds to back breast cancer patients
Melkite archeparchy hosts an awareness day with screening vouchers and a hair-donation station.
The Michel Daher Foundation, with the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Furzol, Zahle and the Bekaa, gathered hundreds at the archdiocese headquarters in Zahle for an annual day supporting breast cancer patients, LBCI reported.
Archbishop Ibrahim Mikhael Ibrahim stressed hope and praised the foundation's humanitarian work. Foundation president Marlene Daher spoke of faith and urged the community to accompany patients, not only sympathise. Doctors spoke on early detection and nutrition, and two survivors shared their stories.
Companies, universities and hospitals pledged part of their profits to the cancer patients' association ZAC. Organisers also set up a hair-donation station and raffled dozens of free mammogram vouchers under the slogan urging women to get screened.
A parish-rooted initiative like this shows the Church's quiet daily service to Lebanese families.
