Lebanese Film Festival comes to Milan 16-18 November under the banner 'Plural Lebanon'
After a first stop in Rome, the Anteo Palazzo del Cinema hosts three days of Lebanese features, documentaries and shorts, opening with Cyril Aris's 'A Sad and Beautiful World'.
The first Lebanese Film Festival in Italy holds its second leg in Milan from 16 to 18 November at the Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, MilanoToday, Taxidrivers and The Dailycases reported. The festival opened in Rome in May at the Cinema Barberini.
The programme runs under the theme 'Libano Plurale', or Plural Lebanon, and sets out to show the country's social, cultural and confessional diversity through contemporary premieres, classics, shorts and documentaries, with space reserved for emerging directors and Lebanese women filmmakers.
The opening film on 16 November is Cyril Aris's 'A Sad and Beautiful World', which won the audience award at the Giornate degli Autori of the 2025 Venice Film Festival. A special session is devoted to Wissam Charaf's 'Dirty, Difficult, Dangerous'. Also on the bill are Mira Shaib's 'Arzé', Lana Daher's documentary 'Do You Love Me', Mounia Akl's 'Costa Brava Lebanon' and Marcelo Gomes's Lebanese co-production 'Portrait of a Certain Orient', plus a heritage session on Lebanon's wars.
The festival is organised by the association Cinema Senza Frontiere with the support of the Lebanese Embassy in Italy and the patronage of the Lebanese Consulate in Milan. Its president, Sara Abou Said, called giving space to Lebanese cinema 'an act of cultural resistance' in a time of uncertainty.
