US–Iran contacts continue without an announced deal after Doha meetings
Monday reports describe continuing mediation; a compressed Iranian proposal remains conditional.
Contacts over ending the US–Iran war continued on November 2 after Iranian negotiators left meetings with Qatari mediators, Reuters reported. Tehran said its existing seven-step proposal could be implemented in two days if its conditions were met.
In its updated November 2 report, AP separately described continuing mediation and quoted Vice President JD Vance expressing optimism about negotiations. Neither report announced a completed agreement or an actual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal remains a negotiating position.
