NTSB finds signs of midair breakup before Florida Learjet crash
Investigators have not determined the cause of Sunday’s crash, which killed nine people.
Investigators have evidence that a Learjet 60 began breaking apart before it hit the ground in Greenacres, Florida, NTSB member Tom Chapman said at a November 2 briefing, independently reported by AeroTime and WPLG Local 10. He did not identify which components may have separated.
The November 1 crash killed all nine people aboard the flight from Austin to the Bahamas. Investigators are examining weather, aircraft systems and communications, without a final determination of the cause. The photograph shows NTSB headquarters in April 2026, not the crash site.
