Judge dismisses complaint against two former FBI officials over Hunter Biden inquiry
Faruqui found insufficient grounds for the case; prosecutors can still seek an indictment.
US Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui dismissed a criminal complaint against former FBI officials Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides in Washington on November 2. They had been accused of lying to Congress in 2023 about their knowledge of the Hunter Biden investigations.
Faruqui found insufficient evidence of knowingly false statements and criticized the rushed prosecution before the midterm elections. The Justice Department disagreed and said it was evaluating its options. Prosecutors can still seek a grand-jury indictment; the dismissal does not rule that out.
