تفيد صحيفة الشرق الأوسط بأن جلسة عسكرية برعاية أميركية تجمع ممثلين عن الجيشين اللبناني والإسرائيلي ستُعقد في 20 تشرين الأول في مقر القيادة المركزية الأميركية في فلوريدا.

وبحسب الصحيفة يترأس السفير سيمون كرم الوفد اللبناني، ويقتصر جدول الأعمال على مسائل عملانية كوقف النار ووقف التجريف والأسرى.

وتكتب لوريان لو جور أن بيروت تشارك بشرط رئيسي هو التنسيق العسكري المباشر. وتضيف الشرق الأوسط أن قائد الجيش العماد رودولف هيكل يرفض أي تنسيق مباشر بين القوات اللبنانية والوحدات الإسرائيلية، وأن أي اتصال يمر عبر آلية وقف النار القائمة.
